Gregory Laski

Gregory Laski writes about culture and civic life in the United States, past and present. He is the author of Untimely Democracy: The Politics of Progress after Slavery (Oxford University Press, 2018) and coeditor, with D. Berton Emerson, of Democracies in America: Keywords for the Nineteenth Century and Today (Oxford University Press, 2023). His reported features, reviews, and essays have appeared in PublicSource, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and LARB, among other outlets. He holds a PhD from Northwestern University.
