Christopher J. Nygren is associate professor and Chair in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Pittsburgh. His 2020 book, Titian’s Icons: Charisma, Tradition, and Devotion in the Italian Renaissance, won the Phyllis Goodhart Gordan Prize. His second book, Sedimentary Aesthetics, will be published in April. Dr. Nygren serves as Articles Editor of Renaissance Quarterly.
