Stefan Andriopoulos

Stefan Andriopoulos is co-founder of the Center for Comparative Media and Professor of German at Columbia University. He is the author of Ghostly Apparitions (Zone Books 2013) and of Possessed: Corporate Fiction, Hypnotism and the Invention of Cinema (U of Chicago Press 2008). His current book project adopts a historical perspective on how the introduction of new technologies has increased the circulation and acceptance of rumors and disinformation. A longer, programmatic essay, “Rumor and Media: On Circulations and Credence (via Kant and Marx),” has been published in Grey Room.
