Kate Flint is Provost Professor of Art History and English at the University of Southern California, where she teaches 19th-century and early 20th-century cultural history. Flint has recently completed a book to be called “Flash! Photography, Writing, and Surprising Illumination,” and is currently bringing together old and new essays in the forthcoming “Sensing the Material World 1850–1930.”
