Ursula Kroeber Le Guin was born in 1929 in Berkeley, and lives in Portland, Oregon. As of 2017, she will have published 23 novels, 12 collections of stories, 5 books of essays, 13 books for children, 9 volumes of poetry, and 4 of translation. Among her awards are the Hugo, Nebula, National Book, and PEN-Malamud, and she has been honored as a Library of Congress Living Legend and with the National Book Foundation Medal.
