Christy Wampole is an essayist and an associate professor of French at Princeton University. She has published three books: Degenerative Realism: Novel and Nation in Twenty-First-Century France (Columbia University Press, 2020), Rootedness: The Ramifications of a Metaphor (University of Chicago Press, 2016), and The Other Serious: Essays for the New American Generation (HarperCollins, 2015). Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, New Yorker, Aeon Magazine, French Forum, MLN, Modern Language Review, and other publications.
