Jennifer Petersen

Jennifer Petersen is Associate Professor of Media Studies at the University of Virginia. She is the author of Murder, the Media, and the Politics of Public Feelings: Remembering Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. (2011). She is currently finishing a book on the history of media and free speech, showing how new media technologies from film to computers have shaped legal conceptions of what can be protected as speech under the First Amendment.
