Saumitra Jha is an associate professor of political economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a senior fellow at Stanford’s Freeman-Spogli Institute for International Affairs. His research focuses on how to use economic and financial approaches to reduce political polarization and violent conflict. Having grown up in England, Scotland, and the Indian Himalayas, his research now takes him further afield to study indigenous communities in Mexico, traders in Zanzibar, historic warrior groups in Europe and Japan and novice financial investors around the world.
