Jeffrey Insko is professor of English at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and the author of History, Abolition, and the Ever-Present Now in Antebellum American Writing (Oxford University Press, 2018). He is currently completing a book titled “Untimely Infrastructure: The 2010 Marshall, Michigan, Oil Spill in the Human Epoch.”
